Two new media outlets, Hospitality and Tourism Guide and mytourismghcom has been launched in Accra on Friday.
The Launch saw the gathering of media practitioners, regulators, tourism practitioners and the members of the Ghana Hotels Association, a body which promote and protect the interest of all hotels in Ghana.
Mrs. Olivia Opoku Adomaa, a representative from the Ministry of Tourism who outdoored the new media outlets have urged all media houses in Ghana to engage their audience in productive conversations which will inure to the benefit of Ghana.
” Tourism is driven largely by the private sector and as such I urge all tourism practitioners to undertake strategic partnerships in order to project Ghana to the outside world. Let’s engage our audience in productive discussions that would push Ghana forward and leave the usual politicking behind us.”
She went on to reiterate the Ministry’s support for the two media outlets as they are the only media in Ghana which focuses solely on tourism related stories and to promote all tourist destinations in Ghana through their features.
Dr. Ackah- Nyameke, an executive of the Ghana Hotels association in his solidarity message thanked the owners of the two media outlets for being innovative by thinking of establishing media outlets which will focus on promoting the tourism industry in Ghana and pledged their full support to the success of the work.
The Managing Editor of the two media outlets, Mr. Richard Senyo Sumah said the reason behind the two media outlets is to focus on tourist destinations in the Country and to promote the brand, Ghana .
” We came about this project in order to promote Ghana through our newspaper, Hospitality and tourism Guide and our online portal, Mytourismgh.com . The newspapers will be out every two weeks while the online portal runs 24/7 “.
The online portal has places for all events in all the hotels in Ghana, hotel directories , airline schedules, festivals in Ghana and so forth.
The Managing Editor of the media outlets urged all media houses in Ghana to shun every report which will tarnish the image of Ghana internationally.
